Financial Aid Award Checklist

To accept a financial aid award, the following steps must be completed: 

  1. Carefully review the Financial Aid Terms and Responsibilities.  By accepting institutional and/or federal financial aid, a financial aid applicant is agreeing to the Financial Aid Terms and Responsibilities.

  2. Log in to WebAdvisor and select "Prospective Student" or "Student" based on your current status.  Use the "Accept or Reject My Financial Aid Awards" menu item to accept or decline the financial aid awards you have been offered.  Federal student loan borrowers may select "Change My Requested Loan Amount" to enter an alternate loan request for the academic year.  When determining your loan request amount, you may use the following loan borrowing, Student Loan Advisor - Master's Students, or Student Loan Advisor - Doctoral Students loan calculators.

  3. If you anticipate receiving an outside award or other financial support that is currently not included in your financial aid package, complete the Outside Resources Form to report this information to the Consortial Financial Aid Office.

  4. Complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) at if you wish to borrow federal loans and you have not previously borrowed with the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan program. Sign in to "Manage My Loans" to complete the MPN. To request a paper copy or PDF version of the MPN, contact the Consortial Financial Aid Office. The Direct Loan MPN is a multi-year promissory note good for a period of ten years.

  5. Complete the online Entrance Counseling session at if you wish to borrow federal loans and you have not previously completed entrance counseling for the school with which your latest financial aid award is associated.  This quick and easy interactive counseling session provides useful tips and tools to help you develop a budget for managing your educational expenses and hels you to understand your loan responsibilities.  Sign in to "Manage My Loans" to complete the Entrance Counseling.

  6. Complete and submit the Budget Calculator and Loan Repayment Estimator results. You may return the forms electronically or by hardcopy. Loan funds may not be certified prior to the receipt of your worksheets, if required. Read the Student Loan Borrowing Policy for a description of the Consortial Financial Aid Office's efforts to assist students in managing student loan debt.
