Krzysztof Kieślowski’s The Decalogue

The DecalogueJoin us to watch one, several, or all of these artistic, probing, and daring investigations into the human condition. The Decalogue was produced in 1989 for Polish television, and consists of ten 1-hour films, each loosely based on one of the Ten Commandments. This series will be hosted by DSPT Fellow, Ron Austin, a Hollywood screenwriter and producer.

The Graduate Theological Union Library invites you to an exhibition of visual and textual expressions that characterize religious beliefs. Included in the display are Orthodox icons; Catholic paintings, prints, and vestments; Protestant prints; Islamic and Buddhist calligraphy; Jewish scrolls; and printed material, statues and objects from these and other traditions. Of special note are works by contemporary artists Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang, Ron Nakasone, He Qi, Alfonso Castillo, Corita Kent, Angelica Vasquez Cruz, and Virginia and Louis Naranjo.

The Graduate Theological Union Library invites you to an exhibition of visual and textual expressions that characterize religious beliefs. Titled Imaging Religion: An Exhibition in Honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Graduate Theological Union, the exhibition runs from October 1, 2012 through January 31, 2013 (extended through February 28).

Included in the display are Orthodox icons; Catholic paintings, prints, and vestments; Protestant prints; Islamic and Buddhist calligraphy; Jewish scrolls; and printed material, statues and objects from these and other traditions.

Of special note are works by contemporary artists Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang, Ron Nakasone, He Qi, Alfonso Castillo, Corita Kent, Angelica Vasquez Cruz, and Virginia and Louis Naranjo.

'Eid Lunch

The Center for Islamic Studies at the GTU wishes our Muslim colleagues, families and friends a blessed upcoming ‘Eid ul-Adha. As Muslims will be completing hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca, next week, we commemorate our shared Abrahamic tradition and our common humanity. May this be a time of greater understanding, unity and peace.

We welcome you all to join us for an ‘Eid lunch from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30, in d’Autremont Dining Hall, Pacific School of Religion, 1798 Scenic Avenue, Berkeley.

Race and Religion at the Golden Gate

Race has always been inextricably connected to immigration in our society, but how does religion factor into those connections? Come and join us in a discussion on this timely topic as the Bay Area celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge and its 80,000 miles of wire that have come to symbolize the connections of space, people, and culture regionally, nationally, and globally. A renowned panel will discuss discussion the intersection of race, religion, and immigration.
