Encountering Islam: Ministry in the Church and the Dominican Tradition

"The Qur'an in Muslim Faith and Practice", lecture by Dr. Mahan Mirza, Zaytuna College

Interreligious dialogue is a ministry of the Church. It is an area of service and study that has a long tradition in the Church and in the contemporary times has been renewed with the directives of Vatican II and more recently in the Synod on the New Evangelization, In our current global reality, it is becoming one of the most critical ministries of Catholics, Jews and Muslims throughout the world.

Dr. Mahan Mirza is the Dean of Faculty at Zaytuna College. He has taught courses including introductory Arabic . Islamic religious thought, western religious traditions, the life of the Prophet Muhammad, history of science in Islamic societies. Hadith, and the Qur'an at Yale University, California State University, Chico, and the University of Notre Dame. Mahan Mirza is also a visiting scholar at the Graduate Theological Union.
