John Dillenberger, 1918—2008

Dear Members of the GTU Community: 
I am deeply saddened to inform you that John Dillenberger peacefully passed away on February 7, at his home in El Cerrito. John was a giant in the life and history of the GTU. In addition to his distinguished career as a scholar of historical theology, John was instrumental in the founding of the GTU. He was Dean and President of the GTU from 1967-1971, and served in leadership roles in the GTU throughout his career -- from Acting Library Director, to Acting President (1999-2000), to GTU Board member. All of us who knew John were inspired by his enthusiasm for and commitment to the life of the GTU. His determined spirit and visionary leadership will be sorely missed.  
 
Let us all keep Jean Dillenberger and John's family in our prayers. May John rest in God's peace.
