Student Health Insurance Instructions

To Students New to our Consortium for Fall, 2012, Welcome!

 

Incoming students must indicate their student health insurance choice in two places.  Students need to indicate whether they want to enroll in the GTU student health insurance plan or waive out in WebAdvisor, the GTU on line registration system.  This information is recorded in our GTU student information management system and linked to your GTU bill.

You also need to point your web browser to http://studentnet.kp.org/gtu to use a Kaiser Permanente website to actually enroll in GTU HIPS or waive out of the plan.  You will also find a link to this site in WebAdvisor (or, using the Health Insurance link on the Students page at www.gtu.edu).

You can complete these two processes in any order you choose.  You must complete both processes between August 20 and September 14.  Note: you can not continue on with GTU registration until you designate your health insurance choice in WebAdvisor.  And, you must visit the Kaiser site to actually enroll or waive health insurance, the WebAdvisor designation simply triggers GTU billing

We will cover GTU HIPS in detail at the August 27 consolidated orientation sessions.

 

To Students Across the Consortium Who Registered in Spring, 2012, Welcome Back!

 

Returning students who do not wish to change the health insurance choice in our systems in Spring, 2012 do not need to do anything about health insurance in WebAdvisor. But, you do have to go to http://studentnet.kp.org/gtu to use a Kaiser Permanente website to actually enroll in GTU HIPS or waive out of the plan. You must verify your health insurance status with Kaiser at the start of every fall semester. You will also find a link to the Kaiser site in WebAdvisor (or, using the Health Insurance link on the Students page at www.gtu.edu).

GTU student ID number (including the zeros that appear in front of the number; check your student ID card for the number.  This is NOT your WebAdvisor number)
