The Walter & Elise Haas Fund has provided the GTU a grant to support the Center for Islamic Studies and the Center for Jewish Studies in their joint programming for this academic year. We are pleased to announce grants for students working on an interreligious research project related to Judaism and Islam.

The Lunar Calendar in Judaism and Islam Thursday, Oct 6 12:30-2:00 PM GTU Library Dinner Boardroom 3rd Floor 2400 Ridge Road Please join us to Celebrate Rosh Hashanah & the Islamic New Year. This event will be led by Prof. Deena Aranoff and Prof. Abdullah Ali, and will provide an overview of the Lunar Calendar in both traditions, the convergence of Rosh Hashanah and the Islamic new year, and Yom Kippur and Ashura.
The Graduate Theological Union has received a grant of $35,000 from the Walter and Elise Haas Fund to support Madrasa-Midrasha: Interreligious Education Programming during 2016. Madrasa-Midrasha is a collaborative effort between the GTU’s Center for Islamic Studies and its Richard S. Dinner Center for Jewish Studies.

The Richard S. Dinner Center for Jewish Studies and the Center for Islamic Studies at the GTU co-sponsored their annual Madrasa/Midrasha Day of Learning on October 10 with over sixty people in attendance. Each year a topic is explored from both Jewish and Muslim perspectives.
