    Dr. Valerie Miles-Tribble Named 2025 GTU Excellence in Teaching Award Winner

    The Graduate Theological Union (GTU) is pleased to announce that Rev. Valerie Miles-Tribble, PhD DMin, Professor of Ministerial Leadership and Practical Theology and Chair of the Women's Studies in Religion Certificate Program, has been selected as the recipient of the GTU Excellence in Teaching Award for 2025. The honor was announced at the GTU Commencement exercises on May 22.

    Dr. Ahmed Khater, Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies at the Graduate Theological Union’s (GTU) Center for Islamic Studies (CIS), is reshaping the landscape of Islamic legal scholarship in the West. A mufti and seasoned educator, Khater’s academic and public work charts a critical path for understanding the development and relevance of Islamic law in Western contexts.

    Dr. Sam Shonkoff Has Been Awarded Tenure and Promoted to Associate Professor at the GTU

    Dr. Sam Shonkoff, Taube Family Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies, has been awarded tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor at the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) beginning July 1, 2025. Dr. Shonkoff’s colleagues and students at the GTU and the University of California confirm the quality and significance of Prof. Shonkoff’s research, the effectiveness of his teaching, and his dedication to the success of the GTU.
