Amir Hussain
How would you describe your religious affiliation and/or spiritual background?
Muslim
In one word, how would you describe the way you feel about the GTU?
Excited!
What excites you about becoming a member of the GTU’s Board of Trustees?
My master was the blessed Wilfred Cantwell Smith, the Canadian scholar at the forefront of interfaith dialogue in the past century. The GTU is the place for interfaith work in the current century. Here, one can stay grounded in one’s own tradition, but also understand the traditions of others. It is in dialogue with others that we learn more about each other, but also more about ourselves. Now, more than ever, we need that place for dialogue that the GTU provides.
What do you find inspiring about the future of the GTU?
There is a history here of teacher-scholars who have inspired their students. The future of the GTU is the future of all of us, a space of learning where we can understand the complexities of our identities in the world that we all share.
