American Prayer: Photographs by Lucas Foglia

Thursday, September 5th 2024 to Friday, December 13th 2024

Each of the major world religions includes a story of someone going to a wild place and communicating with the divine: Moses climbed Mount Sinai, Buddha sat under the Bodhi Tree, Muhammad meditated in the Cave of Hira.

This exhibition showcases the work of Berkeley-based artist Lucas Foglia, who traveled throughout the United States to photograph religious and spiritual rituals in nature. The people he photographed share the belief that nature is both our salvation and our responsibility.

Co-sponsored by the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary of California Lutheran University Center for Climate Justice and Faith.
