Sunday, April 7th 2013, 7:00pm

The Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute presents the Manolis Distinguished Lecture for 2013: The Ethics of Theosis – Two lectures by Dr. Aristotle Papanikolaou of Fordham University.

April 9, 2013, 7pm:  The Ascetics of War: The Undoing and Redoing of Virtue at the Valley Life Sciences Building, Room 2060, University of California, Berkeley.

Tuesday evening, this will be further explored using modern warfare as the focus.

Dr. Aristotle Papanikolaou is a professor of theology and co-founding director of the Orthodox Christian Studies Center at Fordham University.  He is the author and co-editor of a number of books, including Being With God: Trinity, Apophaticism, and Divine-Human Communion (Notre Dame Press, 2006) and The Mystical as Political: Democracy and Non-Radical Orthodoxy (Notre Dame Press, 2012).

Only recently has the Orthodox Church been living in democratic countries and Prof. Papanikoulaou is one of the first scholars to look at how Orthodox theology “connects” with modern democracy.

The PAOI is pleased to present these lectures free of charge to any and all who are interested.
