For our final CJS virtual gathering of the semester, we invite you to join the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay's "tikkun" day of learning in honor of the holiday Shavuot. Professor Shonkoff will be giving a talk on "Constricted and Expanded Consciousness in Hasidism" at 7pm.
In the language of Hasidic spirituality, katnus ("smallness") and gadlus ("bigness") denote constricted and expanded modes of consciousness. Let's study some sources together to gain deeper insight into these two states. We will also make reference to recent discoveries in cognitive science and psychedelic studies.
