- interchange of insights between the phenomenological tradition, particularly the work of Edmund Husserl and his students
- the tradition of realist metaphysics exemplified in Aristotle and St. Thomas Aquinas
- phenomenological approaches to intentionality, consciousness, and intersubjectivity
- medieval philosophy, particularly the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, Duns Scotus, and the Arabic commentators on Aristotle as they relate to metaphysics and epistemology
