Fulbright Indonesia Scholar Dr. Sulaiman Mappiasse at CIS/GTU from Fall 2021 through February 2022

Congratulations and a warm welcome to Dr. Sulaiman Mappiasse, a Fulbright Scholar from Indonesia, who has been at the CIS/GTU since Fall 2021 and will be here through February 2022. His research focus is on how religious educators, practitioners, and researchers in America understand and practice interreligious education at schools, universities, and society. More specifically he looks at how they define, experience, and practice interreligious education, what goals they have achieved, what challenges they have faced, and what support they have received for interreligious education. Please see the Fulbright Indonesia announcement.

Dr Sulaiman is an assistant professor at Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Manado. He holds a bachelor’s in Islamic theology and philosophy from Al-Azhar University (Cairo, Egypt), a master’s in education from Flinders University (Adelaide, Australia), and a PhD in sociology from the University of Hawaii, which he earned with a Fulbright grant.

We are grateful and delighted that Dr. Sulaiman has chosen the GTU as his host institution as a Fulbright Scholar.
