GTU Launches 60th Anniversary Celebration

Building a Better World Since 1962

BERKELEY, CA – August 25, 2022 – The Graduate Theological Union launches its 60th anniversary celebration this week, honoring its legacy of building a better world through dialogue.

In the extraordinary year of 1962, a landmark union was formed based on a vision of what a model of collaboration through embracing differences—rather than being divided by them—could achieve.

It was a radical vision, as were other movements gaining momentum at the time, such as civil rights, gender equality, and climate justice. The Graduate Theological Union has been at the forefront of advancing theological engagement with these issues, remaining steadfast in its commitment to building a better world through dialogue since 1962.

Beginning on August 25, 2022, with a reception for the new Dean and VP of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jennifer W. Davidson, and continuing throughout the fall semester, the GTU invites its community to join in the anniversary celebrations in the following ways:
