The Graduate Theological Union extends its prayers, support, and sympathy to the students, faculty, and staff at GTU member school Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, and to the wider community at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, after last night’s violent attack that occurred just a few miles from Cal Lutheran’s campus. We are saddened to learn that a recent CLU graduate, Justin Meek, was among those whose lives were cut short. The GTU extends its deepest sympathies to the families, friends, and loved ones of all whose lives were lost, to the communities at PLTS and CLU, and to all who are grieving.

Classes at PLTS and CLU have been cancelled on both Thursday and Friday. The PLTS campus in Berkeley will be open, and members of the school's Spiritual Care Team will be available to staff, faculty, and students.

Updates on gatherings on and around the Cal Lutheran campus to mourn the lives lost and support those who were touched by the tragedy can be found on the CLU website at https://www.callutheran.edu/emergency/
