The Center for Islamic Studies at the GTU is pleased to announce that visiting scholar, Carol Bier, will be giving the annual lecture at the Museum of Art and History in Santa Cruz, California on February 15, 2014 from 1:00pm-2:00pm.
The lecture is titled:
Symmetry, Asymmetry, and Symmetry-Breaking in Oriental Carpets
Join in a Green Tea Conversation with Mohammad Waqas Sajjad. Mohammad is a PhD student a s a Fullbright scholar from Pakistanis at the Graduate Theological Union. His academic focus is institutionalized Sunni groups in Pakistan. Mohammad's presentation will be commented by Dr. Munir Jiwa, director of Center for Islamic Studies at the GTU.
The Graduate Theological Union, in conjunction with the Center for Arts, Religion and Education, sponsored Modern Divine: An Interfaith Panel on Art and Spirituality on October 27 at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco.

The Richard S. Dinner Center for Jewish Studies and the Center for Islamic Studies at the GTU co-sponsored their annual Madrasa/Midrasha Day of Learning on October 10 with over sixty people in attendance. Each year a topic is explored from both Jewish and Muslim perspectives.
