CLGS Andrew Ramer Archive Collection - RECEPTION

Sunday, May 13th 2018, 12:00am
Pacific School of Religion, 1798 Scenic Avenue Berkeley, CA 94709

Sunday, 13 May 2018 from 7pm to 8:30pm in the Badè Museum at Pacific School of Religion: The Center for LGBTQ and Gender Studies in Religion (CLGS) warmly welcomes you to a reception in honor of our expanding interfaith archives. The archives are a unique resource for students and researchers in the field of LGBTQ religious studies.

The archives is proud to announce the creation of the Andrew Ramer Collection. Andrew Ramer is noted Jewish author and liturgist. His major life’s work is a journal that he began in 1971, which has filled up 146 notebooks, all of which can be found in the archive.

An artist before he was a writer, he illustrated several of his books; his sketchbooks and paintings are in the archive, along with handwritten letters going back to childhood. His writing is deeply grounded in the words of others, and many of his essential resource books can be found in his archives.

Included also is all of his published work, plus recordings of interviews from radio and television, along with many manuscripts and drafts.

The reception will feature a reading by Andrew Ramer and remarks about the significance of this new acquisition by CLGS Director Bernard Schlager.
