Join us on Zoom for a panel discussion with artists from CARe's Fall 2020 exhibition, Drawing the Soul Toward Truth: Hindu and Muslim Sacred Geometry.

Around the world, faith traditions explore mathematical patterns in pursuit of truth and knowledge. This is sacred geometry.

Captivated by this beauty, artists approach sacred geometry in myriad ways, allowing them to participate in the ever-unfolding nature of patterns, while discerning from them a means to commune with the Divine. In the hands of the artist, sacred geometry both mirrors these patterns and translates them according to different ideologies, perspectives, and contexts.

Drawing the Soul Toward Truth: Hindu and Muslim Sacred Geometry brings together a diverse group of Muslim and Hindu artists in a project of interreligious dialogue. In each artist’s work, there is a unique perspective and message for the viewer, at all times encouraging the viewer to examine their own perspective and orientation through an engagement with the creative expression of another. In doing so, the viewer deepens their own self-awareness as they expand their understanding of the Other. This forms the first steps of meaningful interreligious dialogue; beginning with the artwork, we have the opportunity to glimpse the spirituality and lifeworld of each artist, igniting a desire to pursue a deeper understanding that paves the way for true human flourishing.
