Part of a series of virtual workshops offered by CARe covering a wide variety of themes in the arts and religion. Each topic is covered by two 2-hour-long workshops. Open to students and community members alike, each workshop pair carries a $100 fee. CARe workshops are open to all - no experience in any of the fields necessary! GTU students, please note that these are not credit-earning workshops.
After a year-long repetitive rut of groundhog days, come refresh your soul together in virtual-community as we explore the spirituality of spontaneity. This series of two experiential workshops, led by a local pastor and improviser, will be grounded in the wisdom and exercises of improvisational comedy, as well as traditions like Theater of the Oppressed, sacred storytelling, clowning, and gentle yoga and dance movement.
We will cover topics such as active listening, "Yes, and" collaboration, flexibility and beginner's mind, extemporaneous prayer, and the deep dwelling in uncertainty at the heart of all discernment. Play, laughter, and holy foolishness is profoundly healing - something we all need these days! No prior improv/theater experience required.
