It is hard being wedded to the dead;
they make different claims,
offer comforts that do not feel comfortable at the first.
They do not let you remain numb.
Neither do they allow you to languish forever in your grief.
They will safeguard your sorrow
but will not permit that it should become your new country, your home.
To honor both All Saints Day and Dia de los Muertos, we will off the opportunity for the community to collaborate in building an altar on the Quad to honor loved ones who have died. Please feel free to bring pictures, objects, fabric, food, etc. and to place on the altar. There will opportunities to write down names, light candles and place flowers if you would like. Don’t forget to pick up any items you would like returned by 5pm.
Contemplative space for prayer and remembering will also be held all day in Buckham Chapel.
