GTU Establishes First Center for Dharma Studies in U.S.

The Graduate Theological Union has announced a $4.4 million gift from Mira and Ajay Shingal to establish and endow the first Center for Dharma Studies in the United States. The Center will focus on leading edge, multidisciplinary, graduate research and teaching in Hindu Studies and Dharma Studies.

Purushottama BilimoriaProfessor Purushottama Bilimoria of the Center for Dharma Studies at the Graduate Theological Union delivered the Dharma Endowment Lectures on January 17-18, 2017, at Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, the Pontifical Athenaeum of Philosophy, Theology and Canon Law in Bengaluru, India. His topic was “The Ethics of Personal Law in India: Religion, Minority Rights, Legal Pluralism, and Uniform Civil Code.”

The Path of Bhakti and Its Relevance for Contemporary Life

The Mira and Ajay Shingal Center for Dharma Studies at the GTU is pleased to announce a symposium on "The Path of Bhakti and its Relevance for Contemporary Life.” His Holiness Radhanath Swami Maharaj will offer the keynote address, closing remarks, and will sign copies of his acclaimed new book, The Journey Within: Exploring the Path of Bhakti. Dr. Graham Schweig and Dr. Rita Sherma will present on the significance of Bhakti for personal and global challenges.
