Professor Rita D. Sherma was honored to receive the Hindu Community Foundation's 2021 Award for Service (Karma Yoga Honoree), for development of breakthrough platforms, organizations, programs, and publications for pioneering research in, and academic and public teaching of Dharma Studies. Founded in the SF Bay Area, the Hindu Community Institute (HCI, 501(c)3) is the first service education institution in the US that offers training for community service providers grounded in Hindu traditions of compassion and wisdom.
