Library Recognized for Managing Robert McAfee Brown Collection

The staff of the Flora Lamson Hewlett Library recently received some public recognition by the son of Robert McAfee Brown for their work in collecting and preserving his personal library. The Letter to the Editor, printed in the New York Times, is included below.

New Digital Microform Scanner Graces First Floor of Library

The next time you are in the library, take a look at the microform (microfiche and microfilm) area on the first floor. Most of the previous readers/printers have been sent to electronic recycling. The newer remaining reader/printer that was connected to a computer has been moved and can continue to be used to view and print fiche and film. The most exciting addition is our new ST ViewScan digital microform scanner, which now sits next to the GRACE terminal.

Derek NelsonWabash College President Patrick White has announced the appointment of Derek Nelson as the new director of the Wabash Pastoral Leadership Program. Nelson, who is a member of the Wabash College Religion Department, succeeds the founding director and his appointment is effective January 1.

Tizon to co-lead Evangelicals for Social Action

Al TizonWhen Ron Sider, a prominent evangelical voice for social justice, steps down from his post as president of Evangelicals for Social Action (ESA) in June 2013, GTU alumnus F. Albert "Al" Tizon will share the reins. Tizon (Ph.D. '05) will serve as co-president of the organization with Paul Alexander, a graduate of Baylor, in a "consensus model," according to a post on the organization's website.

Berkeley Geography students chart GTU and Holy Hill

GTU Master Plan Phase IIIThree UC Berkeley undergraduate Geography students, Vanessa Fernandez, Robert Lee and Alyssa Kies, began a blog (http://holyhillberkeley.wordpress.com/) in November about the Northside of Berkeley campus affectionately known as Holy Hill. The blog is a course project for Urban Geography of the San Francisco Bay Area.
